Complimentary Recipe – Ground Elk BBQ Burgers

Ground Elk:

Custom ground Elk from Venison America is 98% lean and ground to provide just the right texture for a tasty grilled burger. This recipe is one of our favorites.


Ingredients:

1 - Pound ground Elk (May also use Venison or Bison)
1/2 Cup your favorite spicy BBQ sauce, divided. (We recommend Famous Dave’s spicy)
1/2 Cup dry breadcrumbs
2 Tablespoons olive oil
1 Clove garlic, minced
1 Large egg
4 Slices Chipolte pepper Gouda cheese (Substitute your favorite)
4 soft Kaiser rolls, split


Preparations:

Preheat grill to medium-high

Mix Elk, olive oil, 1/4 cup BBQ sauce, egg, garlic and bread crumbs in a large bowl. (Remember, your hands can be used as long as you have washed them first.)

Shape mixture into four patties for burgers.

Place on grill patties on grill and baste with BBQ sauce

Cook for 5 minutes and flip. Baste cooked side with BBQ sauce

Add slice of Cheese

Cook until Medium-rare (About 3 minutes)


While burgers cook:

Butter each half of Kaiser rolls

Place on grill and toast until brown and crisp (Don’t burn)

(Hint: Use soft butter and spread evenly across entire surface)

Remove and set aside until burgers are done


Garnish with lettuce and tomato.


Serve with fresh fruit and pasta salad
